Chicago Alderman Advance Plan To Abolish Subminimum Wage For Tipped Workers

Chicago aldermen are advancing a plan to abolish a subminimum wage for tipped workers. The City Council's Workforce Committee yesterday approved legislation that would phase out the lower minimum wage for tipped workers over the next five years. If passed, the measure would make Chicago the largest city in the U.S. to independently phase out a tipped wage. The proposal heads for a vote of the full City Council next month.
