Cook Co., Illinois Sets Record For Opioid Overdose Deaths In 2022

The fentanyl crisis is reaching new heights in Chicago this year. Cook County is coming off a record breaking year for opioid overdose deaths. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office has confirmed two-thousand opioid overdose deaths for 2022, breaking the previous high of one-thousand-935 set in 2021. More than 91-percent of the overdose deaths involved fentanyl.
